Color Silver Foil specimen of 2005 18th Asian International Stamp Exhibition Souvenir Sheet(s/s) No. 2 - Taiwan Culture. Formosa(Taiwan), Rep of China.

The official presentation of Taipei Post Office.

The second souvenir sheet- "Taiwan Culture" - follows: In the center are various intricate wooden structures found in temples of Taiwan: the wood carving "Mandarin Ducks Playing in a Lotus Pond" on a door panel of Penghu( Pescadores) ´s Mazu temple, the caisson ceiling of Lugang´s Longshan temple, and the lion cap blocks of the town´s Mazu temple. Among the three, the Longshan temple´s caisson ceiling was chosen to be the theme of a stamp. The upper left side features a stamp based on Taiwanese hand puppets, provided by I Wan Jan Puppet Theater, dressed in wedding attire. In the background of this stamp are red paper lanterns, a representative traditional handicraft of Taiwan. These two art forms demonstrate the beauty and uniqueness of our folk handicraft, traditional wedding customs and opera art. The bright red of the lanterns lends power to the image. The lower right side features the ceramic swallowtails of Tainan´s Singjigong Temple, making the design livelier by shattering the unity of the image of the souvenir sheet.
