This is
one of the classic GB philatelic reference books, being long out of
print & very hard to source. It was first published in 1899,
and covers all issues from 1840-1892 including telegraph stamps,
officials, fiscals & Ottoman empire overprints, with specialist
detail on: design; plates; slates; paper; colour; gum; perforation;
numbers printed and minor/major errors & varieties.
Features
12 pages of photo-mezzotype illustrations and 26 pages of diagrams,
with 288 pages of text. Highlights include 2 full page photos -
how to distinguish Die I & II of the early 1d with 16
comparative features (see sample below). The vast majority
of the line-engraved & surface printed types are illustrated
along with telegraph stamps and overprints. Individual pages
can be printed - for your personal use - why
not use them to illustrate your albums. Each of the 26 diagrams
shows a slate - see the sheet layout, watermarks, ornaments,
marginal inscriptions &c (scroll down past contents list to see
and example).
A FULLY TEXT SEARCHABLE
& PRINTABLE PDF edition on CD
...suitable for all
computers & electronic book
