Hong Kong 1962-1973 - 65c Ultramarine SG204 - a very fresh Mint Never Hinged copy that is one of the key lower values from this set - although off centre this is still a decent copy - There were 2 x issues for this set - the 1st issue (1962) was on Chalky paper but some of the values were also issued later on Glazed paper (1972 & 1973) & with shades (mostly in 1971) . All isues from this issue were Watemark w12 upright. The 65c value from the 1st issue was only issued on Chalky paper. The notes in the Gibbons 1840-1970 catalogue also states that the $1.30 to $20 were also issued with PVA Gum as well as gum Arabic. The gum on this stamp white and dull.

A 2nd issue was made in 1966-1972 but with watermark W12 sideways. There are 2 x shades of the 65c from this 2nd issue - Ultramarine & Bright blue (SG230 & SG230a). All the stamps up to the $1 were issued on Chalky paper; the remaining high values ($1.30 to $20) were issued on Glazed ordinary paper. The 20c to 40c were also issued on Glzed, ordingary paper. The 5c to 25c, 40c & 50c also exist with PVA Gum as well as gum Arabic but the 30c and all stamps on Glazed paper ONLY exist with PVA gum. The RIGHT HAND stamp has white shiny gum and is the Bright blue Watermark W 12 sideways shade. The 'Bright blue' is often confusing as the stamp is this offer appears 'brighter' but is Ultramarine.

The stamp on offer has an upright watermark on Chalky paper with gum Arabic and thus can only be SG204 & is catalogued by SG2015 1840-1970 Commonwealth & Empire catalogue @ £18.
