France House of Repression of Nanterre Deposit of begging 28 Photos Album 1921

Vintage Anonymous Studio Photo Album.

History: In 1872, the Direction des travaux de Paris acquired a plot of land in Nanterre to build a 'house of repression'. In 1887, following the closure of the Saint Denis begging depot, the recluse was transferred to Nanterre, which became a 'departmental house'. In the spring of 1902, the prisoners were transferred to Fresnes, while the institution concentrated on the begging depot. The building is now home to the hospital and hospital care center (CASH) Nanterre, whose records date back to 1921.

Historique : La Direction des travaux de Paris fait l'acquisition en 1872 d'un terrain à Nanterre pour y construire une 'maison de répression'. En 1887, suite à la fermeture du dépôt de mendicité de Saint-Denis, les reclus sont transférés à Nanterre, qui devient 'maison départementale'. Au printemps 1902, les personnes incarcérées sont transférées à Fresnes, tandis que l'institution se concentre sur le dépôt de mendicité. Le bâtiment abrite désormais le centre d'accueil et de soins hospitaliers (CASH) de Nanterre, dontles archives remontent à 1921.
